A Goldendoodle is the wonderful result of a controlled cross-breed between a purebred male Poodle and a female purebred Golden Retriever. The idea was first conceived back in 1969, when breeders sought a guide dog that could match the Golden Retriever in obedience, health and trainability while being suitable for people allergic to dog hair.
The Poodle turned out to be the perfect match, and passes traits of intelligence, athleticism, a loving personality and great looks along with its non-shedding coat on to its Goldendoodle offspring. A match made in heaven!
The different letters and numbers simply refer to the breed’s generation and which percentage of origin dog is in that generation.
For example, F1, also called F1A, is a first-generation Goldendoodle with 50% Poodle and 50% Golden Retriever.
Breeding an F1 Goldendoodle with a purebred Poodle results in an F1B Goldendoodle, which is more Poodle than Golden Retriever at a ratio of 75% Poodle to 25% Golden Retriever.
An F1BB (also referred to as an F1B) Goldendoodle means that it is the result of cross-breeding between a first-generation F1B and a purebred Poodle. This breed is still more Poodle than Golden Retriever, but just moderately more than in the case of a first-generation F1B.
In other words:
F1A = 1/2 Golden Retriever and 1/2 Poodle
F1B = 3/4 Poodle and 1/4 Golden Retriever
F1BB = Slightly more Poodle than F1B
Each generation of Goldendoodle puppy has unique qualities and comes in various sizes!
It’s all part of the fun! Since Goldendoodles get their traits from Poodles, you’ll have the chance to love your Goldendoodle in various sizes from mini and petite to toy and teacup sizes!
Poodles were bred across generations for the purpose of making a smaller variety, so today there are 3 poodle sizes with an additional mini size unique to Goldendoodles.
Regardless of which size dog you’re looking for, our Goldendoodle puppies for sale retain all of the amazing qualities that both parent breeds have to offer.
Our beautiful Goldendoodle puppies for sale come in 4 unique sizes which include the F2B mini, the F1B petite, the F1B teacup and the F1B toy Goldendoodle puppy.
How do the measurements work?
A Mini Goldendoodle puppy grows into a dog that is on average 16 to 20 inches tall and weighing between 15-45 pounds.
A Petite Goldendoodle puppy grows up to be on average 12-15 inches tall with a weight between 10-25 pounds.
A Toy Goldendoodle puppy grows up to 11 inches in height and 10-15 pounds.
A Teacup Goldendoodle is decently-smaller than a Toy and averages up to 8 inches in height and 4-9 pounds.
We welcome visitation to our Goldendoodle breeder's family home, for Goldendoodle puppy viewing throughout various times of the year during which time our pups are more than 5 weeks old. On average, ABCs Puppy Zs will see the birth of four or five litters a year, so interested puppy-parents-to-be will typically have the opportunity of seeing our Goldendoodles during those times of the year. Please contact us anytime for more information on the next upcoming puppy viewing opportunity at ABCs Puppy Zs.

That’s a great question, because part of having healthy Goldendoodle puppies is ensuring that both parents—and especially Our Puppy Moms—are in very good health and ready to make healthy and happy offspring. At ABCs Puppy Zs, we perform comprehensive health checkups on both parents and obtain Certifications from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) along with DNA testing for a complete genetics background on all of Our Puppy Moms.
In this way, we do our best to prevent certain health conditions that are known to occur in both the Poodle and the Golden Retriever breed from being passed on to the Goldendoodle puppies. All of Our Puppy Rents have obtained their OFA Certifications which can be found through each of their profiles, where you can also find a link to their Certified DNA Genetics Results as well as their DNA Traits in the case of Our F1B Petite Goldendoodle Moms.
Goldendoodles are part Poodle and part Golden Retriever, which means they inherit DNA traits and genetics from both breeds. As with all breeds of dog, certain conditions and diseases are known to occur in Poodles and Golden Retrievers, which may be prevented in their offspring by running comprehensive DNA background checks on the puppy parents.
As per the recommendation of the OFA, all of Our Puppy Moms have been tested for the following diseases and traits:
Golden Retrievers, Poodles, & Goldendoodles
Golden Retrievers & Goldendoodles
- Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Golden Retriever 1
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Golden Retriever 2
- Muscular Dystrophy (Golden Retriever Type)
- Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 5 (Golden Retriever Type)
- Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Golden Retriever Type)

Our Puppies’ Health is of paramount importance to us and we conduct all necessary measures to ensure that every Goldendoodle for sale has passed their health examinations and is happily awaiting a trip to their new family and home.
Every litter receives a veterinary examination at 7 Weeks with all documentation available for review and included with every Goldendoodle puppy. Our Puppy Moms receive a post-birth checkup during the first week after pregnancy to ensure that they can provide healthy feeding and care for the brand-new pups.
All pups receive their necessary vaccinations, and the documentation is provided with every Goldendoodle puppy along with a 5-year Health Guarantee.
At ABCs Puppy Zs, the 5-year Goldendoodle puppy Health Guarantee is our way of promising great puppy health, which gives new owners certain options in the case of a life-threatening congenital health condition onset during the first 5 years with their Goldendoodle.
Dog health problems can be very difficult to talk about, because we all fall in love with these pups the moment they’re born and want them to be as healthy and happy as can be. While we stand by our first-rate Goldendoodle Breeding Program, unfortunately, a 100% clean bill of health from birth is impossible for any living thing and we can only dream of never having to worry about the onset of diseases and conditions that may be present from birth.
To give you confidence in your Goldendoodle puppy purchase, we offer a 5-year health guarantee, which, in the case of any life-threatening congenital disease onset, allows to you receive a full refund in the 1st year and a replacement Goldendoodle puppy in the subsequent years of ownership. Let’s all hope that’s the last you have to hear about our health guarantee, and you can rest assured that we have done and will do everything imaginably possible to promote enduring health and a long and happy life for all of Our Dogs!
